Cesc Fabregas describes loss to Barcelona as the worst moment in his life
Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has described the loss to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League at Camp Nou as the worst moment of his life.
Fabregas took full blame of the defeat and apologised for his performance in the fixture. It was the Spaniard’s first match at the Camp Nou as the former Barcelona youth player could not keep his side in the competition. The midfielder took the responsibility
for the match as he was at fault for Barcelona’s goal.
“I take full blame for the result tonight. One of the worst moments of my life. I apologize. Great support from the Arsenal fans,” the midfielder said on a social networking website.
He said that it was disappointing for the Gunners the way they lost to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604. The captain insisted that he was proud of his team’s performance as they defended very well and matched the Catalan side on most of the occasions.
“It's a real pity we've gone out tonight. We caused them a few scary moments, especially when we scored. But that's football and it wasn't our night. I'm proud of the team; we stood up to them and defended well when we were supposed to,” said the midfielder.
The Spaniard said that he enjoyed the first 15 minutes of the match but witnessed some pain in his leg for the rest of the match and did the best he could. He also wished the Catalans the best in the tournament and hoped that the Spanish giants could win
the tournament.
The Londoners failed to capitalise on the 2-1 advantage they carried in the second-leg of the knockout stage fixture and eventually lost 3-1 on Tuesday night.
It was the second setback for the Gunners in a span of two weeks after they lost the final of the Carling Cup against Birmingham City on 27 February, 2011.
