Cesc Fabregas desperate to end Arsenal’s trophy drought
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has claimed that he will do everything in power to lead the Gunners to their first trophy in almost six years.
The Spaniard comments come after Arsenal’s semi-final victory against npower Championship side Ipswich in the Carling Cup. The win means that the Gunners have a chance to end their long-standing trophy drought when they contest
the Carling Cup final on 27 February, 2011 at the legendary Wembley stadium.
Ipswich came to the Emirates Stadium with a slender one-goal lead from the first leg of the semi-final. The visitors made life extremely difficult for Arsenal, doggedly holding on to their advantage for almost an hour. However,
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicklas-Bendtner-c27726 finally broke the deadlock with a superb individual effort, settling the nerves at the Emirates.
Bendtner has not been in the best of forms in recent weeks, something he himself admits. However, his goal was absolutely vital in breaking down the stubborn Ipswich town defence. The goal paved the way for an Arsenal onslaught.
The Gunners scored two more in quick succession to book their place in the final at Wembley in a month’s time.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Captain-c8314 Cesc Fabregas was absolutely delighted with the result. Arsenal now have a real chance of winning some silverware, and Fabregas says he will make sure that the Carling Cup trophy finds its way to the Emirates.
He said, “It is going to be a very difficult final but we will do our best because I think the fans deserve a trophy again at the Emirates. The goal was to get to the final but it was difficult. We have got to congratulate Ipswich for what they've done.
We wanted to score an early goal but the key was patience and we did it really well.”
Bendtner, who opened the scoring, agreed with his captain. The Dane said, “Ipswich deserve all the credit. They played really well and made it very difficult for us but we always knew we'd have the chances and it was just a case of finishing them off. We
do everything we can in every match to win a trophy and now we're in one final and we'll do everything we can to try and win it.”
We will see whether Arsenal can finally bring home some silverware when they contest the final of the Carling Cup in February.
