Cesc Fabregas 'focused' on Arsenal
Arsenal midfielder Francesc Fabregas has revealed that he is entirely focused on the English Premier League club.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup winner was subject to much speculation over the summer linking him with a return to Barcelona, with whom he came through the youth academy before being snapped up by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger as a 16-year-old.
Though a return to his homeland did not happen in the end, the 23-year-old claimed today that he is happy to remain in North London for the foreseeable future and try to bring silverware to the Emirates Stadium this season.
'I am at a great club'
He told Spanish radio network Cadena Cope today that: "I am completely focused — I know what I want to do and what I have to do. My mind is centred on what happens on the pitch which I enjoy. If I could not play football then I may worry, but while I still
can here or wherever I can say I am happy. I am at a great club, in a great team and I want to do the best and have a great year."
Meanwhile, it has been rumoured that Barca’s fellow La Liga giants Real Madrid are interested in making a move for Fabregas next summer, but the player dismissed any notion that he could play under Jose Mourinho at the Bernebau next season.
He said that: ”I have never said that I would not want to play for Madrid or anything like that, it seems to be a great club to me. I have set myself other objectives, I know what I want, I know where I want to play and that's it. It is not that I am against
Madrid or any clubs in the world but I have my desires and my objectives as a player, although I am also owned by somebody."
