Cesc Fabregas reminds Manchester City that money isn’t everything
Arsenal skipper, Cesc Fabregas, has warned Manchester City that while they could be the world’s richest club and have the comfort of buying virtually any player in the world, money can’t buy team spirit.
Manchester City presently occupies the second spot in the Premier League standings while Arsenal is placed just after with a 3-point deficit. Both clubs look set to build on their respective starts and be able to challenge for the title come May.
The Gunners are due to travel to the city of Manchester this Sunday for what looks to be an exciting prospect. Cesc Fabregas was realistic enough to concede that with the injection of Arab-money, the Eastlands is fast becoming a formidable outfit under Mancini.
However, having said that, the Spaniard insisted that there is always one decisive element needed to win the silverware. A team could have a bunch of high class individuals to fall back on, they would however, always need that sense of ‘one for all and all
for one’ to be effective over the course of an entire season.
“You cannot buy the spirit in one year. You need a few years to get everyone together and to get to know each other well, and it's not easy. You don't make a team in one season or two.” were the Arsenal number 4’s words.
The Arsenal captain further remarked,
‘But, of course, they are in a very good position. They have all the ingredients to become a great club and we have to fight hard against them.We have our style, we have the football we want to play and we want to try to win every game like this, whether
it is against the richest club in the world or the poorest.'
The statement brings out a signal of intent from the Arsenal camp. Manchester City’s financial dominance could be next to no other, but Fabregas believed that his team had the belief and ability on the field to overcome the toughest of opponents on its day.
The Arsenal captain has been out of action for a while now and it seemed rather fitting to see the Spaniard take charge of his team on his return to full fitness; they missed him. The comment might also be seen as the midfield maestro’s apparent commitment
to the club. Those are not only the words of an acting captain, but also the views of an Arsenal faithful.
Come, the end of season, would it be a long shot to assume that Fabregas might just as well stay at the Emirates, for good?
