Cesc Fabregas says Arsenal are missing Robin van Persie
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has revealed his belief that the club are missing the talents of Robin van Persie.
The English Premier League giants are currently fourth in the table after gaining 11 points from seven games. However, Holland international Van Persie has missed the vast majority of those games as he has been out of action with an ankle injury he sustained
in the 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers back in August.
2010 FIFA World Cup winner Fabregas believes that if Van Persie had been fit for the other games — including draws with Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as defeats against West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea — it is likely that Arsenal would be much
closer to league leaders Chelsea than they currently are. Fabregas also said that he hoped Van Persie could return soon to give the side much-needed firepower.
'Hope Van Persie can give us what we have missed'
The Spaniard told The Mirror that: "We have missed Van Persie playing at his best in recent seasons as he has suffered a lot of injuries. I hope that this year he recovers well and gives us what we have missed."
Fabregas, who will miss out on the game against Birmingham City on Saturday (16 October), added that Arsenal needed to regain the motivation required to win trophies after enduring a five-year spell without lifting silverware and revealed that summer arrival
Marouane Chamakh has settled into life at the Emirates Stadium.
He said that: “In the last few years we have lacked a winning mentality. When things are balanced a [Didier] Drogba, or [Frank] Lampard or a [Wayne] Rooney comes forward, players who win games. We have missed that as a team. But we have signed a great striker
in Chamakh and he is adapting well and has given many things we are missing before."
