Cesc Fabregas set to make his return against Chelsea
Talismanic Arsenal skipper, Francesc Fabregas is expected to be in the starting line-up against Chelsea when the two giants meet on the 3rd of October. Fabregas injured his knee while against Sunderland on the weekend. The injury was inflicted in the first half as the Arsenal captain was forced to limp off. Devoid of his services, Arsenal could only manage a draw.
Arsenal medical staff feared the worst initially, as Fabregas was expected to have suffered a muscle rupture. In light of recent developments, it was revealed that the injury is not as serious as initially thought and the Catalan might make his return after all. Contrary to earlier reports, his injury is just a strain. Arsenal will have their skipper back in training after just 10 days on the sidelines.
"I will be ready and in perfect shape in 10 to 11 days, currently I am just working on day to day basis”. Fabregas is undergoing therapy with an osteopath in France. Fabregas’ importance to the Gunners’ title ambitions cannot be over emphasised. The skipper was in sublime form until his recent injury with a handful of assists in both the domestic front and the UEFA Champions League.
Fears that the skipper is suffering from a burnout, after playing top level football over the last four years without a rest, have began to surface. Arsenal is currently second in the league table with 11 points, 4 adrift of the league leaders Chelsea who have made a perfect start to the season.
Fabregas also kept his future options open, refusing to commit his future only to Barcelona. In a recent interview, Fabregas told the journalists that he never ruled out a move to Real Madrid. Fabregas is a product of the famed arsenal youth academy and the two clubs have a fierce rivalry.
“I have never said no to the possibility of playing in a Read Madrid jersey, they are a club with big objectives and I will always consider such offers”.
Fabregas is wildly expected to make his much anticipated move to FC Barcelona next year and his recent comments are sure to generate some controversy.
