Cesc Fabregas shows patience, Nigel Reo-Coker nears return
Arsenal FC’s injured captain Cesc Fabregas has said that he will show patience and will not rush back in to action until he has fully recovered.
Fabregas injured himself last week, during Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Portuguese side SC Braga in the UEFA Champions League.
The Spanish international’s season has been hampered with injuries and he has not been able to maintain his fitness levels throughout the season. This time, the midfielder is out due to a hamstring injury and is expected to be
back within two weeks.
Arsene Wenger will be hoping for his captain to make a full recovery in time for the Gunner’s crucial tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford on 13th December.
However, Cesc is not keen on making his return to the pitch in a rush, and said that he will only play if he is 100 % fit.
The Spanish playmaker said, “I don't want to put a date on my return yet, I will take my time. The team did really well without me against Aston Villa, so I will wait until it is completely ready. I started the season really strongly,
the first few games, but after that I had an injury and got into a pattern of missing a few games, and then starting again. So it is better my team-mates play, because they are fitter than me. I will just try to get back whenever I can. My team-mates are helping
me a lot and I am trying my best."
Fabregas missed Arsenal’s emphatic 4-2 away victory over Aston Villa in the English Premier League.
In his absence, Russian maestro Andrei Arshavin and French sensation Samir Nasri have managed to score important goals from the centre of the park. Arsenal are currently 3rd in the Premier League standings, just 2 points
behind leaders Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker is nearing his return to full fitness. The England under-21 international was out due to a knee problem and missed Villa’s last 4 league matches.
The news is welcoming for manager Gerard Houllier, who has already lost a number of key players in midfield due to injuries.
Club captain Stiliyan Petrov, youngster Mark Albrighton and former Chelsea man Steve Sidwell are out of action due to fitness problems.
The absence of fringe players may force the French manager to splash the cash in the January transfer window and add reinforcements to the squad.
Houllier said, “Nigel has done some running. Maybe in two weeks, he'll be back. It's definitely in midfield we need to buy one or two players."
Villa’s next match is on Monday 6th December, when they travel to Anfield to face Liverpool FC.
