Cesc Fabregas to potentially make comeback against Manchester United
Arsenal’s Spanish World Cup winning midfielder and captain, Cesc Fabregas was last seen playing for the team when he limped off the pitch in the teams two nil defeat in the Champions League to Braga last month.
That was the latest setback in the players illustrious career, which seems to be lined with injuries. However it has been reported that the player is currently on the right track to recovery and is set to even potentially be back for the game against Manchester
United.
The team’s manager Arsene Wenger is reported to have said: "We could have Cesc Fabregas (back), but there is a big uncertainty if he can be in the squad or not. That will be decided very late"
Arsenal could really use their captain in the middle of the pitch when they take on their closest rivals in the league. Arsenal are currently a point ahead of Arsenal and if they manage to pick up the win against the Red Devils then they will extend their
lead to four points at the top of the table.
Arsenal are also however going to be without their second choice left back, Kieran Gibbs. The English international is set to miss the next three weeks after picking up an ankle injury during the team’s midweek win over Partizan Belgrade.
Arsene Wenger is however hoping that the twenty one year old will be able to make it back as soon as possible and can get back to playing full games once again.
In regards to Gibbs, Wenger is reported to have said: "I am very disappointed (about it). I hope it will not put in his mind that he is an injured player," said Wenger.
"It was just an accident and you cannot do anything about it.
"Time will help him get over that and it is not major damage in his ankle."
Arsenal have had some serious injury problems over the last couple of seasons, but so far this season despite a few injuries to their key players, the team has been doing rather well so far. What has really worked for the Gunners this term is the fact that
in the absence of the key players likes Robin Van Persie and Cesc Fabregas, the younger players in the team have stepped up.
So far this season the likes of Samir Nasri and Jack Wilshere have managed to really step up their games and come out of their shells. Performances from these players will be crucial to Arsenal’s case if they are hoping to beat United this coming weekend.
