Cesc Fabregas will not be charged by the Football Association
Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas will not face disciplinary action after the Football Association (FA) dismissed alleged charges against the midfielder. Fabregas had been accused of verbally abusing referee Lee Mason during Arsenal's
match against Everton on 2 February.
Toffees manager, David Moyes claimed that the Spaniard should have been sent off for an alleged half-time rant that was aimed at Mason. Moyes said after the match, "Fabregas' comments to the officials when he was coming down the
tunnel warranted a sending off. I am not going to repeat what they were. They were disappointing comments from someone who is such a talented footballer."
Arsenal were left fuming after Louis Saha's controversial opening goal was allowed in the game last night. The striker was clearly offside, but the linesman kept his flag down, and the goal stood intact. During the half-time interval,
Fabregas had allegedly confronted referee http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lee-c21860 Mason in the tunnel for awarding the goal.
Saha's goal was later negated by Andrei Arshavin's strike in the 70th minute before the Gunners secured all three points through Laurent Koscielny's header. After the game, Fabregas conceded that Arsenal were far from
their best against the Toffees, saying, ""We were not up for it at the start against Everton and we were very sloppy. We know that we could have paid for it, but fortunately the team stepped up."
However, Arsenal's victory was marred by David Moyes' allegations against Fabregas.
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger refuted Moyes' claims, saying that Fabregas had not overstepped the mark as the players made their way down the tunnel, as Mason has not mentioned any Extraordinary Incident Report, forcing the FA
to dismiss the case against the Arsenal captain.
The victory against Everton was vital for Arsenal as they are eyeing the Premier League crown for the first time in seven years. The Gunners currently lie in second place in the league standings, five points behind leaders Manchester
United. Let us see whether they can keep up the pressure on the Red Devils as they face Newcastle United at St. James Park on 5 February.
