Cesena Vice-President, Luca Mancini, has conceded his team’s progress in the Coppa Italia to focus on league commitments.
The Seahorses will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 in the last 16 round of the Coppa Italia on Thursday, January 12th, 2012. However, Mancini has decided to field the reserves team to take on Walter Mazzarri’s men, as he wants an early
exit from the tournament and wants to focus on Serie A.
The Vice-President insists that he wants his team to remain focused for the crunch Serie A game against Novara at the weekend. The chief insisted that he cannot risk injuring any of his star player’s against Napoli, as survival
in Serie A is more important to him rather than progressing in domestic cup.
While talking to the reporters, Mancini said,
“For us, the Coppa Italia match on Thursday falls at the wrong time. On the Sunday we have a direct confrontation with Novara. We can’t get hurt at the San Paolo, because our main goal is survival. We’ll play the reserves, which
obviously won’t be able to match Napoli’s team.”
The Cavallucci Marini chief is surprised at the poor league campaign thus far, and he cannot understand the reasons behind it. He believes that everyone was extremely motivated during the summer transfer window, and the club spent

“What has happened to Cesena? Around us there was much enthusiasm in the summer for some good buys, whilst we made some significant investment in the club and the stadium. Something has not gone to plan, we will now try to fix
that in the market.” added the vice-president
Cesena are second from bottom, and remain six points behind the team out of drop zone. The Seahorses will host 18th placed, Novara, in their next league game on Sunday, January 15th, 2012.
