  1. most likely not, since they are probably to powerful for that small of a plane. they are used mainly on twin engine planes. im sure if you really wanted a turboprop for a 172 you could get a custom one, although it would just be a waste.

im pretty sure a 150 is way to small of a plane.  really there is no need for a turboprop in planes that small.. hence they dont make that an option.

  2. The 172 makes it not a good canidate for a turbine conversion, I seem to recall a test aircraft a few years back, but with the low useful load, cabin size, smaller fuel tanks, etc, it does not pencil out economically to invest putting an expensive turbine engine on it.

Now there is a Diesel engine conversion being offered by Thielert diesel engine.  Cessna is even considering making it an option on the new Skyhawk.

  3. If you have plenthy of money you coud install a turboprop engine in a 172 airframe, The question is why???

A larger engine will not allow the aircraft to fly much faster or to carry any more weight ndue to airframe limitations.

I have flown a cessna bird-dog with a PT6 turboprop installed and other than using very little runway to take-off, the airframe limitations would not allow the engine to perform as it was intended.

If you are lookign into higher speeds, the best way is to reduce parasitic drag on the airframe. With some time and patience, you can increase a 172 speed by about 15 knots.

  4. Hah, that would be cool

  5. The airplanes you mention are not suitable for turbine power, and no such engine is manufactured.

Turbine engines operate efficiently at higher altitudes and speeds that the small single engine airplanes can attain, and the smallest turboprop engines available are much too powerful for the strength of the airframe.
