Chad Bobrosky wins Boys 200m freestyle gold medal: Day two – 2011 FINA World Junior Championships
Chad Bobrosky of Canada earned the gold medal of Boys 200m freestyle discipline on day two of the 2011 Federation Internationale 3rd World Junior Championships on Wednesday, August 17, in Lima, Peru.
Bobrosky proved his dominance for the gold medal, by clocking a top fastest time of 1 minute and 49.13 seconds. With his irresistible effort, he missed the championship mark of 1 minute and 47.63 seconds, made by Danila Izotov of Russia during 2008. His
effort was also 7.13 seconds behind the world mark of 1 minute and 42.00 seconds, set by German swimmer, Paul Biedermann, in 2009.
The Canadian out-touched his closest competitor, Pawel Werner of Poland, with a margin of 0.20 seconds, as Werner submitted a time of 1 minute and 49.39 seconds for the silver medal. The silver medallist stayed 0.73 seconds ahead of his closest competitor,
Cameron McEvoy of Australia, who stepped on the podium for the bronze medal, with a timing of 1 minute and 50.12 seconds.
In the meantime, 17-year-old Fumiya Hidaka of Japan appeared as the fourth position holder of the event, as he was just 0.06 seconds slower from overpowering the effort of the bronze medallist and reported on the finishing wall in a time of 1 minute and
50.18 seconds. He was followed by Andrea Mitchell D’Arrigo of Italy, who earned fifth position of the event, with a timing of 1 minute and 50.56 seconds.
The sixth position in the respective meet was claimed by Dmitry Ermakov of Russia, who was only 0.11 seconds behind D’Arrigo and produced a time of 1 minute and 50.67 seconds. Zach Walters of United States was the seventh position holder of the swim, as
he ended his swim one second behind Ermakov, with a timing of 1 minute and 51.67 seconds. Trent Williams completed his swim in a time of 1 minute and 52.55 seconds for eighth position.
The crowd enjoyed the superior swims of international youth, while the winners were awarded medals on the victory stand after the completion of the session.
