Chad Dawson is concerned about winning the fight and nothing else – Boxing News
Chad ‘Bad’ Dawson, the current WBC light heavyweight champion, is sure-footed that he will defeat Andre Ward this Sunday at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.
While talking to FightNews regarding his upcoming fight, Dawson spoke of his training days with trainer Scully, and how he helped him reach his goals.
“We’re a great team. He’s known me since I was eight or nine years old,” asserted Dawson.
Scully has been with Dawson right from the beginning of his career. According to Dawson, he has watched him grow into a man and so he knows what his strengths and weaknesses are.
“We know each other in and out of the ring, so it’s a good combination. He’s watched me grow, and he’s watched me become a man. He knows how to motivate me, and he knows how to get me into that mode that I need in order to succeed. In my last three fights
since he’s been back, everything has been great,” Dawson added.
When asked as to what he is planning against Ward, Dawson resisted to reveal his plan. However, he did insist that he has height and reach advantage over Andre Ward, which he believes will be his main weapon to victory.
On a separate note, Dawson asserted that he is just an ordinary man with ordinary standards of life. When asked as to what he would do when he is not a boxer, Dawson said he would just be a normal man playing basketball and football. He revealed he was always
passionate about the two sports but he never was a good student at them.
According to Dawson, he was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to go and practice boxing in a gym. Now, the Ring Magazine and WBC light heavyweight champion believes he is ready to give Ward a tough time in the ring.
It should be noted here that most analysts have rated both fighters of the same calibre, despite Dawson being the more experienced one. Therefore, the fight is a close one, leaving no room for mistakes or blunders for either fighter to commit.
