Chad G Le Clos earns Men’s 400m IM title at 2011 All Africa Games – Day two: Recap
Day two of the 2011 All African Games saw intriguing swims at the Zimpeto National Stadium, in Maputo, Mozambique, on Tuesday, September 6. The session of the meet conducted the Men’s 400m Individual Medley and Women’s 50m butterfly finals.
In the Men’s 400m IM final heat, Chad G Le Clos of South Africa took home gold medal on the podium by posting a winning time of 4 minutes and 16.88 seconds. Most importantly, Le Clos beat Riaan H Schoeman’s previous best time of 4 minutes and 21.91 seconds,
set back in 2007.
In the corresponding swim, Taki Mrabet of Tunisia snatched silver medal on the podium by submitting a captivating time of 4 minutes and 21.11 seconds and Riaan H Schoeman of South Africa grabbed bronze medal on the platform by posting an inspiring time of
4 minutes and 25.32 seconds.
In the meantime, Pedro Pinotes of Angola wound up fourth with a time of 4 minutes and 34.23 seconds and Youghorta Haddad of Algeria settled fifth in 4 minutes and 36.42 seconds. Moreover, Youghorta Haddad’s partner, Ryad Djendouci wound up sixth in a time
of 4 minutes and 44.71 seconds.
Earlier, Karin Prinsloo of South Africa clinched the Women’s 200m freestyle title with a winning mark of 1 minute and 59.84 seconds, while Zeineb Khalfallah of Tunisia snared silver medal in a time of 2 minutes and 05.44 seconds. NatashaDe Vos South Africa
settled for bronze title in the respective meet with a time of 2 minutes and 06.20 seconds.
In addition, Jason Dunford of Kenya snared Men’s 100m butterfly crown in a time of 52.13 seconds. Chad Le Clos of South Africa won silver with a captivating time of 52.17 seconds, while Neil Watson of South Africa earned bronze medal after he touched the
finishing wall and ended his swim in a time of 55.14 seconds.
The arena applauded for the scintillating swims of all participants in the competition and the winners were awarded with medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
