Chad G Le Clos wins Men’s 400m IM title: Day two – 2011 All Africa Games
South Africa’s Chad G Le Clos gave a stunning performance in the competitive swimming final event on day two of the 2011 All African Games at the Zimpeto National Stadium, in Maputo, Mozambique, on Tuesday, September 6. Around 53 countries are taking part
in the 2011 All African Games and it is the reason why the championship is considered to be a pivotal event for all nations of the world.
The session of the meet conducted the Men’s 400m Individual Medley final. In the corresponding race, Chad G Le Clos of South Africa hit the wall in 4 minutes and 16.88 seconds to win his first gold medal of the meet. More importantly, Le Clos thrashed Riaan
H Schoeman’s previous best meet record of 4 minutes and 21.91 seconds, set back at the 2007 edition of the competition.
Earlier, Le Clos won silver medal in the Men’s 100m butterfly with a matchless mark of 52.17 seconds. While speaking about his impressive swim, Le Clos said that he was pleased with his splash in the respective meet. He looks determined to clinch more gold
medals in this competition.
In the meantime, Taki Mrabet of Tunisia took home the silver title on the podium by posting a winning time of 4 minutes and 21.11 seconds, whereas, Riaan H Schoeman of South Africa secured bronze medal after he touched the finishing wall and submitted an
impressive time of 4 minutes and 25.32 seconds.
Meanwhile, Pedro Pinotes of Angola was placed fourth with a time of 4 minutes and 34.23 seconds. Youghorta Haddad of Algeria earned fifth place honours in the respective meet with a time of 4 minutes and 36.42 seconds. Last, but not the least, Youghorta
Haddad’s team-mate, Ryad Djendouci settled for sixth spot after he touched the finishing blockage and ended his swim in a time of 4 minutes and 44.71 seconds.
The arena applauded for the intriguing and versatile swims of all swimmers, while the winners were awarded medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
