Chad Johnson eyes another opportunity in league as WR's wife seeks divorce – NFL News
Wide receiver Chad Johnson has landed himself in further troubles on the domestic front following confirmation that his wife, the reality TV star Evelyn Lozada, has filed for divorce to end their 41-day marriage while the player in his first-ever statement
since coming out of jail on allegedly head-butting Lozada has expressed hope for getting another opportunity in the National Football League (NFL).
Miami Dolphins did not waste much time in releasing Chad soon after the receiver’s landing in jail over the domestic battery charge and since then he has found himself at the ebb of his professional career.
In the first statement, the player said he was working hard for another chance in the league. The statement reads:
"I will continue to be positive and stay training hard for another opportunity in the NFL. I appreciate all my fans and supporters and if I have disappointed you in any way, you have my sincerest apologies. Once again I will continue to stay positive and
appreciate all the support during this tough period in my life."
He went on to express his love for Lozada, but probably knows it is too late for him to earn any reconciliation chance, which as a matter fact looked to be very difficult at the outset of the incident given the player had accused his wife of head-butting
him, instead. She suffered about a three-inch cut on her forehead.
She in her remarks said:
"I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence.”
Meanwhile, Chad’s cut by Dolphins had looked imminent within a few minutes of the incident given coach Joe Philbin had already warned the player of losing his roster spot over his profanity with journalists.
The coach clearly was not happy with the receiver’s loose talk with the media a few days back, and in the statement that Dolphins issued soon after they cut Johnson they emphasised at maintaining higher standards, pinpointing that the player’s behaviour
was not acceptable for them.
