Chad La Tourette wins Men’s 1500m freestyle gold: Day four – 2012 NC Charlotte UltraSwim
Chad La Tourette of Mission Viejo-CA won gold medal of the Men’s 1500m freestyle on fourth day of the 2012 NC Charlotte UltraSwim at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte on Sunday, May 13.
The 23-year-old La Tourette, who was the arena’s top most hope for snaring gold medal of the discipline, met expectations of his supporters by occupying gold medal of the discipline.
With his immaculate efforts and utter determination, La Tourette remained half body length ahead of his strongest rival and emerged on the finishing end for gold medal by posting a time of 15 minutes and 06.73 seconds.
The champion was trailed by Connor Jaeger of Club Wolverine-M, who stayed 0.56 seconds apart and tapped the finishing wall with an effort of 15 minutes and 07.29 seconds for silver medal.
Jaeger was followed by Michael McBroom of U Texas-ST, who remained nearly nine seconds apart and sprinted his way towards the finishing wall for bronze medal by producing a time of 15 minutes and 16.33 seconds.
McBroom faced tough competition from Oussama Mellouli of Trojan Swim Club but with his smothering efforts, he managed to outperform him over the finishing end. Subsequently, Mellouli remained 0.27 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall
with an effort of 15 minutes and 16.60 seconds.
Fifth best spot of the race was secured by Sean Ryan of Scenic City-SE, who remained almost nine seconds apart and completed his swim with the timing of 15 minutes and 25.72 seconds.
Ryan was chased by Matthew Patton of Club Wolverine-M, who was just 0.09 seconds away and clocked an effort of 15 minutes and 25.81 seconds.
The 25-year-old Patton was traced by Mateo De Angulo of Unattached-FL, who finished his swim in seventh place by posting a time of 15 minutes and 29.06 seconds.
Eighth spot of the event was obtained by Ryan Feeley, who concluded his race by submitting a time of 15 minutes and 33.71 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship came to an end after the completion of all swimming events while winners received accolades after the session.
