Chad Le Clos dominates Men’s 100m butterfly semi-finals: Day six - South African LC Nationals
Chad Guy Bertrand Le Clos of KZNA-KZ dominated the semi-finals of the Men’s 100m butterfly on sixth day of the South African Long Course Nationals at the KZN Aquatic-Kings Park Centre in Durban on Saturday, April 21.
The 20-year-old Le Clos, who recently won gold medal of the 200m IM, is now just one-step away from seizing gold medal of the Men’s 100m butterfly.
With his magnificent efforts, he stayed nearly half body length ahead of his competitors and touched the finishing end for first position by posting a time of 53.43 seconds.
He was followed by Neil C Watson of CGA-CG, who qualified into the playoff as second fastest swimmer by producing a time of 53.99 seconds.
Third best qualification spot of the race was secured by Dylan Bosch, who remained 0.36 seconds slower and produced an effort of 54.35 seconds.
Bosch was chased by Heinrich Alberts of LP-LP, who proved his eligibility for fourth position of the discipline by submitting a time of 54.55 seconds.
On the other hand, Karin Prinsloo spoiled the party of her challengers by snaring gold medal of the Women’s 100m freestyle.
The 22-year-old Prinsloo remained prominently ahead of her challengers in the double lap discipline and earned her way to the top of podium for gold medal by posting a time of 55.77 seconds.
Her title-claiming effort remained nearly one second ahead of her team-member, Lehesta Kemp, who settled on the finishing wall for silver medal by submitting an effort of 56.70 seconds.
Kemp, the 22-year-old was trailed by Vanessa Mohr, who stayed 0.32 seconds behind her foregoing finisher and stepped on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by clocking a time of 57.02 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Leone Vorster of NTS-NT, who remained 0.13 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing blockade with the timing of 57.15 seconds for fourth position.
Similarly, Vorster enjoyed a slight advantage over Kayla Ferreira, who finished fifth with an effort of 57.21 seconds.
Furthermore, the session ended after the conclusion of all planned events while the winners were awarded medals after the session.
