Chad Le Clos wins Men’s 100m butterfly title: Day two – 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup
South Africa’s young athlete and Commonwealth gold medallist, Bertrand Guy Chad Le Close went to win the Men’s 100m butterfly title due to his wonderful swim on day two of the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup series, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Saturday,
October 8.
Chad Le Clos was up against Russia’s Evgeny Shkin Korotyshkin and Kenya’s Jason Dunford in the final heat, where Le Clos produced a scintillating swim and stunned his followers by posting a record-breaking time of 50.66 seconds to clinch the 100m butterfly
title.
Le Clos was the gold medallist in the 200m butterfly meet at the 2010 World Championships edition, in Dubai. In addition, he won two gold medals in the 200m butterfly and 400m medley races at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, in Delhi. Furthermore, he won the
gold medal in the 200m medley race at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, in Singapore.
Meanwhile, Korotyshkin gave his best attempt and went to win the silver medal by posting a winning time of 51.14 seconds. On the other hand, Kenya’s athlete, Jason Dunford earned bronze medal by submitting an impressive time of 51.70 seconds. In the corresponding
race, Velimir Jepanovic ST of United Arab Emirates earned fourth place honours with a mark of 53.97 seconds.
Andrey Tambovskiy of Russia was placed fifth with a time of 54.03 seconds, while Alexander Kudashev of Russia finished sixth with a mark of 55.26 seconds. Rami Anis of Syria settled seventh in a time of 55.81 seconds. Last, but not the least, Syria’s Ayman
Klzie was placed eighth in the respective meet in a time of 56.62 seconds.
Chad Le Clos, Evgeny Shkin Korotyshkin and Jason Dunford impressed the local crowd with their performances, while the winning contestants were awarded medals and cash prizes after the session’s completion. The 2011 FINA World Cup is a vital series for young
guns of United Arab Emirates, as it will help them to prepare hard for their upcoming meets of competitive swimming. The next round of the seven-stop series is scheduled to be held in Stockholm, Sweden.
