Chad Le Clos wins Men’s 200m back-stroke title: Day two – 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup
The evening session on day two of the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup ended with the wonderful swim of South African swimmer, Chad Le Clos in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Saturday, October 8.
Le Clos was facing the strongest contestants, Nelson Junior Silva of Brazil and Kristian Kron of Sweden in the Men’s 200m back-stroke final. The Commonwealth gold medallist, Le Clos produced a thrilling swim and hit the wall in a mark of 1 minute and 55.95
seconds to win gold title on the podium.
In the corresponding swim, Nelson Junior Silva of Brazil captured silver medal with a time of 1 minute and 58.37 seconds. Kristian Kron of Sweden picked bronze in a time of 1 minute and 58.41 seconds, while Alistair Allan of United Arab Emirates settled
for fourth spot in a time of 2 minutes and 12.33 seconds.
Moreover, Babu Pranam of India finished fifth in a time of 2 minutes and 13.55 seconds, whereas, Simon Chivers of United Arab Emirates settled for sixth spot in a time of 2 minutes and 14.35 seconds. Lastly, Kayan Bharucha of United Arab Emirates finished
seventh in the respective meet after he touched the finishing wall and ended his swim in a time of 2 minutes and 20.06 seconds.
Additionally, Yu Hang Sze took home the Women’s 100m Individual Medley title by submitting a winning time of 1 minute and 01.53 seconds. In the corresponding race, Louise Hansson of Sweden picked silver with a mark of 1 minute and 01.66 seconds, while Yuliya
Efimova of Russia settled for bronze medal with a time of 1 minute and 02.05 seconds.
The 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup is a seven stop world series, which is set to take place in Dubai, Stockholm, Moscow, Berlin, Singapore, Beijing and Tokyo. The next session is scheduled in Stockholm, from October 15-16. This World Series is offering an
excellent opportunity for young guns to prepare themselves hard for their upcoming meets which include the important London Olympics, in 2012.
