Chad Le Clos wins Men’s 200m butterfly title: 2011 FINA World Cup, Beijing
South Africa’s Chad Le Clos clinched another gold medal in the Men’s 200m butterfly meet, while Hye Ra Choi of Korea secured gold medal in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley race on the opening day of the 2011 FINA World Cup series in Beijing, China, on
Tuesday, November 8.
Le Clos beat his strongest contestants, Christopher Wright of Australia and Weiwu Chen of China by claiming the finishing fence in a matchless time of 1 minute and 51.74 seconds to win the Men’s 200m butterfly title. Wright settled at second spot in a time
of 1 minute and 53.32 seconds, whereas, Chen pocketed bronze medal in a mark of 1 minute and 53.58 seconds.
Yin Chen of China picked fourth position by thrashing the finishing blockade in a blot of 1 minute and 53.72 seconds, while ChiChieh HSU settled for fifth place in a time of 1 minute and 55.96 seconds. In addition, Ziqiao Zuo of China was placed sixth spot
in a time of 1 minute and 57.97 seconds.
Yanqing Fu of China earned seventh place honours by touching the finishing wall in a mark of 1 minute and 58.67 seconds. Finally, Travis Nederpelt of Australia settled at eighth spot in a time of 1 minute and 59.42 seconds.
Additionally, the Women’s 200m IM title was taken over by Hye Ra Choi of Korean in a winning mark of 2 minutes and 07.72 seconds. Jiaxing Li of China earned silver medal in a time of 2 minutes and 09.34 seconds, while Min Zhou of China claimed bronze title
in a mark of 2 minutes and 09.65 seconds.
Tomoyo Fukuda of Japan picked fourth position in a time of 2 minutes and 10.69 seconds, whereas, Sishi Zhang of China settled for fifth place in 2 minutes and 11.00 seconds.
Ellen Amelia Fullerton of Australia secured sixth position by beating Kim Hye Jin of Korea in a time of 2 minutes and 11.11 seconds, while Hye Jin settled at seventh spot in a mark of 2 minutes and 14.98 seconds. Finally, Luliia Larina of Russia ended her
swim at eighth place in a time of 2 minutes and 16.11 seconds.
