Chad le Clos secures Men’s 200m butterfly gold – Swimming News
Chad le Clos of South Africa secured gold medal in the Men’s 200m butterfly on the second day of the 2013 Mare Nostrum Circuit in Canet, France on Sunday, June 16.
The South African swimmer showed no mercy to his challengers in the 200m discipline as he went full throttle in the playoff and secured gold medal. With his invincible efforts, he faced no competition from his toughest opponent
in the playoff and tapped the title in a convincing manner.
He remained in a comfortable lead over his challengers from the start and transpired on the finishing end for gold medal with an effort of 1 minute and 55.40 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Bence Biczo of Hungary, who remained 1.26 seconds away from securing first position and concluded his race in second place by producing a time of 1 minute and 56.66 seconds.
The second best finisher was chased by Daiya Seto of Japan, who suffered a loss of only 0.07 seconds over his closest competitor and touched the finishing end by producing an effort of 1 minute and 56.73 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Yuki Kobori of Japan, who stayed almost two seconds slower from his preceding finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 58.14 seconds.
Afterwards, the arena saw ruthless efforts of Viktor-bregner Bromer of Denmark, who was 2.09 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 00.23 seconds for fifth place.
Sixth fastest spot of the swim was secured by Alexandre Liess of Switzerland, who was only 0.46 seconds away from overpowering his preceding swimmer over the finishing end and settled on the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and
00.69 seconds.
Similarly, Liess was chased by Michael Meyer of South Africa, who was half a body length behind and cruised his way towards the finishing wall for seventh place by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 01.26 seconds.
Meyer remained 0.70 seconds ahead of his following swimmer Gal Nevo of Israel, who was unable to upset any of his opponents in the event and concluded his race in eighth place by touching the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and
01.96 seconds.
In addition, Le Clos expressed happiness over his victory in the 200m discipline and collected his medal at the prize ceremony of the tournament.
