Chael Sonnen: Michael Bisping still needs to prove himself – UFC news
Chael Sonnen has asserted that Michael Bisping has not yet defeated anyone convincingly, and that he needs to do it in order to prove himself.
He further said that Bisping has taken the easy road to success without facing the hardships most fighters do.
In the war of words between Bisping and Sonnen, the latter one has remained quiet until now. Chael Sonnen who will be fighting Michael Bisping at UFC on Fox 2, a fight that has gained much hype in the recent past, has now lashed out on Bisping.
He said, “He certainly hasn't beaten anybody that's any good, rankings-wise.”
Committing himself to being a Bisping supporter, Sonnen said that the truth cannot be denied. He stated, “But Bisping, you can't take from him, because he wins. That's undeniable... I'm not a naysayer on Bisping. I'm a supporter, and if he got a shot (at
the title), I'd tune in to watch.”
It should be noted here that Bisping has been criticised in the recent years for beating the less fierce fighters among all such as Dan Miller, Jorge Rivera, Yoshihiro Akiyama and Chris Leben. According to most critics, Bisping has not faced any tough competition
as yet and he needs to do it in order to engrave his name in the industry.
Sonnen has always been a quiet opponent unlike others. However, this time even he has spoken against his opponent, which sounds like he is supporting Bisping’s critics.
Sonnen is currently at a very crucial stage. He wants to fight Anderson Silva, the current UFC Middleweight Champion. Sonnen had stepped into the ring with Silva, however could not defeat him. Now, Sonnen wants the rematch but it seems like Silva is not
in the favour. In fact, Sonnen claims that Silva is not interested in fighting ever again against anyone.
He asserted, “I've got nothing against competing with Anderson, but he does. He's been offered the fight four times and he's turned it down four times. I don't believe he's going to fight Bisping; I don't believe he's going to fight again. That's my personal
opinion.”
Right now, Silva is preparing hard to beat Bisping so that he can move on to fight Silva and regain his lost glory. If that happens, Sonnen will be the proudest fighter of all.
On the other hand, it is highly imperative for Bisping to beat Sonnen in order to prove that he is capable enough to take on tough competition.
