Chael Sonnen and Mark Munoz ready for UFC on Fox 2 in 2012 – MMA News
The 34-year old Chael Sonnen will fight against the 33-year old Mark Munoz in 2012. The two fighters will face when UFC will be aired on Fox 2 from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The fight at UFC on Fox on January 28,
2012 will be of high significance for both the fighters, as it would determine who goes on towards the gold.
The pair’s match would be a number one contender’s fight where the winner would face the UFC middleweight champion, Brazilian, Wanderlei Silva. The Brazilian, expected to make his entry back into the UFC’s octagon ring, is getting
well from his injury. Reports are that the winner of the Sonnen vs. Munoz bout would face Silva in a match, which would be held in June 2012, but confirm dates are yet to come.
Sonnen made his UFC debut at UFC 55 in October 2005. His fight was in the light heavyweight division but lost to Renato Sobral in the second round. He made his return to middleweight division at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 4 against
Trevor Prangley in April 2006 and won the fight. He fought Paulo Filho for the WEC Middleweight Championship at WEC 31, hosted by World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) in December 2007 but lost.
Chael again lost the chance to win the UFC Middleweight Championship at UFC 117 when Anderson Silva defeated him in the fifth round. Munoz, on the other hand, has a four-win streak running from 2010. He defeated Aaron Simpson
at UFC 123 in November 2010, C.B. Dollaway at UFC Live event in March 2011, Demian Maia at UFC 131 in June 2011, Chris Leben at UFC 138 in November 2011. In his career, he has lost only two fights in his career.
Munoz will be excited to face Sonnen in January 2012 for he would like to make Sonnen his next victim. Munoz defeated Chris Leben at UFC 138, which is one of the most amazing wins in Munoz’s career and would have lifted his spirits
to new heights. Sonnen, on the other hand, who won a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in 2000 in Tokyo, will be looking forward for the fight in Chicago.
