Chael Sonnen believes Brian Stann will knock out Michael Bisping – UFC News
Brian Stann should feel lucky that ‘The American Gangster’ Chael Sonnen is surprisingly on his side. In a recent interview, Sonnen spoke of the clash between Briton fighter Michael Bisping and American fighter Brian Stann at UFC 152. According to Sonnen,
Stann is on his way to score a knockout victory over the Briton.
“This is a main event fight anywhere in the world; let me start by saying that. This is a A-list main event on any card anywhere,” said Sonnen in an interview with the UFC. “And secondly, this is a fight that Bisping isn’t used to. Brian Stann is not afraid
to strike with him and has a lot more power than Michael has. You don’t have to be an avid fan to realize the fact Stann hits a lot harder than Bisping.”
Sonnen has often been criticised as a racist but he calls himself the nationalist.
“And that isn’t a knock on Mike. He hits plenty hard. He hurt me bad in our first round with a right hand and I looked at him thinking ‘You have no idea how bad you just hurt me’.”
Sonnen is not usually the one who supports others for their fights but for some reason he believes Stann has what it takes to knockout Bisping.
Chael Sonnen went head to head with middleweight champion Anderson Silva earlier this year. It was the second fight between the duo and Sonnen once again lost. Even though he promised everyone to end Silva’s career before the fight, when the time came, he
fell.
As of now, Sonnen has confirmed his plans of moving up in weight. He will be fighting Forrest Griffin in December to secure a title shot at UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
It should be noted here that no UFC official, mainly President Dana White, has spoken of a title shot for Sonnen but ‘The American Gangster’ believes he will get it because he deserves it. According to White, if Sonnen defeats Griffin, he will still have
to face other contenders who are eyeing a title shot at Jon Jones.
