Chael Sonnen regards Silva as phony and vows to beat him in the ring – UFC News
Chael Sonnen, the former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight champion, is full of hate for his upcoming opponent Anderson Silva. In his recent interview, Sonnen commented that the current UFC middleweight champion is a fraud and a phony, and vowed
to beat the Brazilian pounder in the octagon.
Sonnen is all geared up to take on arch rival Anderson in a five-round bout which will be held on July 7, 2012. The octagon for the bout will be set up at MGM Grand Garden Arena situated in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
The show pronounced ‘UFC 148’ will also witness Forrest Griffin take on Tito Ortiz in a non-title light heavyweight bout, co-headlining the pay-per-view. This will be the last bout of Tito Ortiz who has already been inducted in the UFC Hall of Fame.
Chael and Anderson will collide for the second time. In their first bout, it was Silva who came out of the octagon victorious, defending his middleweight title. The bout was dubbed by all and sundry as an epic and explosive one, in fact the clash even grabbed
the fight of the year award.
Sonnen in a recent media interaction shared his extreme despise for Silva, commenting that he wants to end the feud and tell the world that he is the superior brawler and athlete.
Chael stated, “Hate’s too strong of a word. I want to beat Anderson up. I’m going to beat Anderson up. He’s a phony, he’s a fraud and he’s got what I want. But I don’t wish him a bad life. We’ll take care of business in the octagon, we’ll shake hands either
way, we’ll walk out and that will be the end of it.”
Sonnen, who will enter his 40th mixed martial art bout, further added that he will happily accept a third fight with Silva, adding that he loves to take on easy brawlers and that he can lock his arms with Silva every day.
The former UFC middleweight champion stated, “I would fight that guy every day. I love easy fights. I’ve had the hard fights. I had to fight Stann. I had to fight Bisping. I had to fight (Yushin) Okami. I had to fight (Nate) Marquardt. I had the hard fights.
I want some easy fights now.”
Chael has been vigorously pursuing Anderson and direly wants to nail the Brazilian Spider. The reason is not just to win back the title but to prove that it was mere luck that Silva won the bout and came out of the octagon in one piece.
Anderson currently possesses 32 wins in a total of 36 bouts and will strive hard to not only defend his title but also keep intact the 15-bout continuous win streak.
