Chain Of Events set to reconnect success chain at Sandown
The Sarah Humphrey trained chestnut gelding, Chain Of Events, is keen to reconnect the chain of success that he erroneously broke on July 6. The Piper Heidsieck Champagne & Levy Board Handicap, which is scheduled to start after a few hours, will be his fourth
straight start at Sandown racecourse that has always been the veteran horse’s cup of tea.
It was the period of May-June 2012 when the five-year-old brilliant gelding marvellously won two big events at this venue. Every time in his last three outings, Chain Of Events experienced different race conditions. The same will happen today as Sandown
is offering a good ground of 1 mile, 2 furlongs and 7 yards.
In the line-up of 17 runners, Chain Of Events has the advantage of being well-familiar with the venue. The talented son of Nayef out of Ermine marvellously won the Betfair Sponsors The Stable Staff Canteen Handicap (Betfair 10 Furlong Flat Series Qualifier)
at Sandown on May 31. He was the 9-2 joint favourite for that race.
Having picked up immense momentum from that victory, the Bishop Wilton Stud bred horse emphatically finished first in the Mediforce.org Handicap again at the same venue on June 15.
The maverick gelding could not be able to sustain the momentum and tumbled badly in the third straight race at Sandown. That was the Text Coral To 65559 For Mobile Betting Handicap, held on July 6.
Now again, Chain Of Events seems to be confident to register a success at Sandown, but Valiant is a big threat for him.
The William Haggas trained chestnut colt debuted with a grand victory on May 19, 2012. He moved ahead to finish first in the Neptune Investment Management Stakes (Handicap) that went down at York on June 15.
Like Chain Of Events, he too lost his confidence suddenly and failed to come up to the punters’ hopes in his third start named as Bahrain Trophy (Group 3).
During the last month, Valiant went through some gruelling training sessions that are expected to have restored his form. Now, he is geared up for a big show.
So let us enjoy the duel between these two mighty runners. Good luck to the both.
