Chainmail quality?

I am looking to buy some good quality chainmail. I don't really know what good chainmail is...16 gauge or 18 gauge, 31 pounds or 26 pounds...can somebody give me an idea of what good chainmail is so i'm not wasting my time and money?

  1. Ok basically I make chainmail as a hobby..

    Personally I would buy the thicker wire (the lower the gauge the thicker the wire). I prefer heavy thick small diameter rings for suites.

    Buy like something around 14-16gauge wire 1/4-3/8 inches diameter coils.

    It's also awesome to make it yourself by the way, check out youtube vids on chainmail making.

    Oh and the 4 in 1 pattern is a ncie pattern, 6 in 1 and 8 in 1 are very thick looking and you can't see the beutiful pattern of 4 in 1. But if you want to use it for play and such you want durability of the 8 in 1 or 8 in 2 etc.
