Chainsaw as an effective weapon ?

Do you think a chainsaw could be utilized as an effective weapon? Someone said that it could not, because it has never been tested for combat use. But by the time the chainsaw was invented, firearms had been too. I think with a bit of practice and technique, it could prove useful. Gas or electric, take your pick. What do you think ? I don't know much about martial arts, but I can do my best to woop @ss, and I'm pretty good with my Bowie.

  1. YESS!!

  2. Anything is a weapon!

  3. well since it can cut through people and basically even kill then I guess it would..but the real question here is why do you want to fight people with a chansaw?!?!?! o.o

  4. too heavy, too unweilding. it would be hard to use as a weapon mostly because of the gyroscopic effect caused by the blade turning so quickly.

the movies make it look cool but that's about it. try it, you'll see.

  5. you'd be surprised at what can be used as a weapon

  6. In the eyes of a jury, you would be better off using a gun than a chainsaw to defend yourself. A chainsaw is every bit as lethal as a gun, but a lot less humane. You better be able to explain to the police, the judge, and the jury why you used a chainsaw to maim or kill your attacker. More than likely, no one is going to get close enough to you with the chainsaw buzzing for you to get them with it, unless you chase them, at which point you are guilty of aggravated assualt or murder. I would expect to get arrested if I used a chainsaw on anyone for any reason. I also would not expect to be able to use the self defense plea.

One of the biggest problems with using a chainsaw is that it it is a large, bulky, short-range weapon that makes a lot of noise. An attacker is going to see you coming and more than likely they will either be able to dodge your attack or shoot you with a gun if they have one. A chainsaw is great for scarying someone who doesn't have a gun.

If someone is chasing me with a chainsaw, they better hope that they kill me because if they don't there will be serious legal consequences for them.

  7. h**l yes!  If someone came after me with a chainsaw I'd s*** my pants!

  8. It would be effective psychologically, but if they didn't run I don't think it would be very effective as far as cutting of limbs goes, a leg bone is a lot harder than wood. However, if you hit a soft spot, such as the belly they would be pretty much done with one thrust.

If you have one running in your hands (clearing out some brush in your yard, perhaps?) and some crazed hophead attacks you it could prove pretty useful.
