Chaitanya, Sudha Kalyani perform well in All India Junior Ranking Tournament – Badminton news
Mixed Doubles partners Chaitanya K P and Sudha Kalyani D forged a fruitful chemistry in the opening round of All India Junior Ranking Tournament and gained access to pre quarter-finals on June 26, 2013.
This 30-minute tussle put them against a compatriot team Saneem Riaz-Pragya Singh and their encounter prolonged to three gruelling sets. The twosome of Saneem and Pragya won first set with 21-14 score whereas the partnership of Chaitanya and Sudha bagged
ending two match point with a favourable result of 21-9 and 21-9.
In the opening game, Saneem and Pragya started the eating from very first stroke and established a decent lead without any delay. They relished full benefits of this early advantage and kept the opposing team at lower end.
They lost a grip for a short span of time but then few back-to-back productive strokes helped them to reinstate their dominance with a decent total of 11. After the one-minute interval, Saneem and Pragya injected more intensity in their attack and widened
the gap on points table.
They maintained a significant difference of seven points and won this crucial segment with an impressive result of 21-14.
The second set of match changed the scenario as the twosome of Chaitanya and Sudha stormed back with a strong reply and turned their rival plans into dust. They showed their intentions immediately in the beginning by pocketing few valuable points in a row.
They mounted pressure by prevailing in few back-to-back rallies and registered a respectable total of 11 before the interval. After the mid-game break, Chaitanya and Sudha continued with same momentum and cruised to victory with a splendid figure of 21-9.
The third set of match was expected to be an interesting contest as both teams were standing equal. They were looking to pocket this final match point to ensure their presence in the pre quarter-finals.
Initially, both pairs remained equal on the points table but then Chaitanya and Sudha struck hard to tip the scale in their favour. They placed a decisive margin of 21-9 and setup their next clash with another compatriot team Mohd. Umair Siddiqui-Sanchali
