I noticed that HR managers use stereo-types.  When interviewing perspective engineers, nerdy candidates did better with HR managers, than did other candidates.  The HR managers thought that nerds were more astute technically and generally smarter.  Nerds aren't necessarily smart, they can be dumb and nerdy.
