Chamberlain Bridge posted a solid work ahead of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint and looks good to sweep it again this year
Winner of the Grade 2 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint 2010 7-year-old gelding Chamberlain Bridge, tuned up for an expected repeat bid on the morning of 19 October, 2011, over the main track at Churchill Downs.
The Carl R. Moore Management’s Chamberlain Bridge, with jockey Jamie Theriot fired a five furlong bullet, covering the distance sharply in 59 seconds.
Trained by W. Bret Calhoun Chamberlain Bridge, was out on the Churchill Downs track as early as 6:00 am and his five furlong time was nearly a second and a half better than the next fastest one.
His run was recorded in fractions as he went six furlongs in 1 minute and 13 4/5 seconds, pleasing jockey Jamie Theriot who said you can’t do better than that and further added that Chamberlain Bridge  has a big big chance to win the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint
again.
Last year Jamie Theriot was aboard Chamberlain Bridge, when the pair cruised past rivals to win the race. It was a five furlong dash over Churchill Downs dirt as Chamberlain Bridge defeated Central City and Unzip Me in the process with the winning time of
56.53 seconds.
In the year 2011, Chamberlain Bridge has made all his starts on turf as usual and he managed to land his season opener, the Rail Splitter Stakes at about 5 furlongs on 12 February Sam Houston Race Park under usual jockey Jamie Theriot.
The pair did it easily, covering the five furlong distance in 56.63 seconds, as Goldzar and Future Covenant finished second and third, respectively.
The son of War Chant, out of She’s Got Class by Trempolino, Chamberlain Bridge raced thrice after his win in the Rail Splitter till May.
He finished 4th in the Grade 3 Shakertown Stakes at about five and a half furlong at Keeneland with the winning time of 1 minute and 3.90 seconds on 16 April, 2011.
Chamberlain Bridge then posted a couple of 3rd place finishes in the Grade 3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint at 5 furlong at Churchill Downs and then in the Grade 3 Turf Monster Handicap also at 5 furlongs at Parx Racing.
