Does anyone have any experience with special education in this area? We are considering a move to this state/area. We have a son with autism who is functioning at close to grade level, is in special day class (SDC) and speech.

  1. The Chambersburg school district is unfortunately not a great district for autism...they are cutting programs left and right and do not follow the state regulations if parents don't forece them to.
Now, on the other hand, NHS runs an autism school on Rt 11.  My son attended their summer school and now goes one night a week during the school year.  He is mainstreamed in most of his classes in the elementary school.  Lower functioning kids either attend classes at the Franklin Learning Center, or at the Autism School.
