Question:

Chameleon Questions...?

My chameleon is the size of a pinky finger and he is a male. He is about 3 months old. He's somewhat skinny because you can sorta see his ribs. I feed him 2 centimeter-sized meal worms a day. (He's not very fond of crickets.) I'm just wondering if I'm feeding him too much or too little. Also, do chameleons and fish have the same eating habits? Because I'm not sure if they eat until they explode or just eat until they're full. Please help! Just one answer to one of the questions would be appreciated!

  1. they eat until they are fully but u should keep offering for at least 20 mins. what species of cham are we taking about.

  2. generally, veiled's appetite should be humongous.

I don't like the idea of giving him whatever he wants. But, i often feed babies about 12 - 18 small crix (1/4 inches).

Mealworm is a horrible feeder for your chameleon.

The strong chitin that they have can lead to fatal impaction and they are not nutritious.

You would be better feeding him crickets. Have you try silkworms?

I bet he will like the taste better than mealworm.

Silkworm is even more nutritious than crickets.

Have you researched about chameleon keeping?
