Chameleon wont sleep?

i just got a jackson chameleon we have a normal light for day and a red light for night when its late he will sleep in my hand but not in his cage and is reluctant to move from my hand to his cage how can i get him to sleep in his cage

  1. If you don't want a red light at night which, as far as I know they can't see anyways, I would go with a blue night cycle bulb or the ceramic heat emitter like somewone else suggested. I'm sure that he does sleep and you just probably don't see it.


  2. Just put him in there he has to learn to sleep in there. And maby he does sleep but you just dont catch it

  3. How can you tell if it's sleeping?  Do chameleons have eyelids?  They sure are cool.  He'll probably sleep when he gets tired.

  4. It might be the red light it can acutally damage many lizards eyes.  So what I would do is get a ceramic heat emitter that way he is still getting the heat he needs but everyone will sleep much better due to the heat emitter producing no light.  I hope that helps.  I would not recommend a blacklight.
