Chaminade boys volleyball team defeats Miami Krop on Tuesday
It is not only the university level volleyball teams that are able to play the sport at a competitive level. High school teams also perform with prowess whenever they enter the court. The level of skill displayed by the high school teams is based on the
fact that their schools have inculcated various training programs that aim to develop and harness the potential of these young and aspiring athletes.
This is done by conducting regular practice sessions as well giving a chance to the players to participate in both local as well as national tournaments.
The Chaminade-Madonna boys volleyball team had a day to remember as they were able to emerge as victors in their last match played on Tuesday. The team that Chaminade was able to defeat in the state tournament match was the Miami Krop. The spectacular win
that Chaminade was able to secure was obtained after they made a clean sweep over their opponents. Not only did Chaminade manage to defeat Krop in three back-to-back sets, they were able to do so in decisive fashion.
By the time that Chaminade was celebrating their well deserved win over Krop by giving hoots of joy and the losing team was moving out of the court with their heads hung low, the scoreboard read 25-10, 25-23 and 25-20.
With their recent victory, the Lions have now been able to tally a total number of 22 wins so far. These victories have been accomplished at the cost of incurring losses that amount to be six in all.
As soon as the first set of the match started, the Lions were able to take control by obtaining a lead for themselves early on at 5-0. After the Lions had the lead at the beginning of the match, the Lightning found themselves to be under pressure.
The Lions kept on extending their advantage and at no point in the initial set of the game were the Lightning able to over the deficit they were facing. As a result, the Lions were able to bag the first set of the game quite easily at 25-10.
After having suffered such a smothering loss in the first set of the match, the Lightning were sent a wakeup call. They responded positively by stepping up their game and putting up quite a challenge to the Lions. But the effort was not enough to make a
win as the Lions took the second set of the game at 25-23.
Having lost the first two sets of the game, the Lighting lost heart. Consequently, the third set was easily won by the Lions at 25-20.
At the end of the match, the Chaminade Coach, Jason Johnson made the following comments about his team performance, “We started out pretty strong. We did what we needed to do.”
