Sri Lanka team coach Trevor Bayliss confirmed that Vaas and Randiv will be reaching Mumbai on Thursday evening as covers for the struggling duo. However he said that the injured players would be given ample time to prove their fitness.
“They (Mathews and Muralitharan) picked up a couple of niggles in the last match (semifinal against New Zealand). So to be on the safe side a couple of guys are flying in tonight. We will be giving those two guys  as long as possible to
prove their fitness,” said Bayliss at a media conference on Thursday.
Muralitharan, who is playing the last tournament of his career, has struggled with niggles throughout the showpiece event, including a troublesome knee, a side strain, a groin issue and a hamstring injury. The 2 April, 2011 clash in Mumbai
would be the last international match of Murali’s cricketing career as he announced retirement from all forms of cricket after the ICC World Cup 2011 comes to an end.

Sri Lanka team spokesman confirmed on Thursday that the all-rounder would need at least couple of days to recover from the quadriceps muscle injury adding that he will be working with the team physio to be fit for Saturday’s final.
