Champion race-horse Carlton House as short as 2-1 for Investec Derby – Horse Racing Update
Champion race-horse Carlton House was victorious at the Totesport Dante Stakes on Thursday, May 12 at the York race-course.
This was a Group 2 event that was run by race-horses of age three over a distance of one mile and two and a half furlongs.
The Dante Stakes was very conveniently won by the champion racehorse Carlton House. It was observed that the race was run at a relatively slow pace. Nonetheless, the race-horse Seville was held off by Carlton House, after which he has become the dominating
contender in the market of the upcoming Investec Derby. The Derby event has been scheduled to take place next month.
The race-horse is owned by the Queen and trains under the care of the famed trainer Sir Michael Stoute. Carlton House was seen to hold off the rest of the field in a very impressive manner as he accelerated past each one of them. As soon as he was declared
the winner of the strongest Derby trial, the most famous sponsors and bookmakers were obliged to cut down on the odds of the colt. The son of Street Cry, Carlton House is now being quoted as a 2-1 favourite for the Epsom meeting that will be taking place next
month.
Since three of the favourites for the upcoming Derby contender were a part of the Dante Stakes, the fans of the sport and the analysts had thought that this event will be very intriguing. However, to their disappointment the race did not turn out to provide
any thrill for all those who were anticipating this race. The slow pace of the race made the results quite predictable from the very beginning.
The winner of the race was ridden by champion jockey Ryan Moore in this race. In a post-race interview, he was reported as saying, “It was a horrid race. There was no real pace, it’s a shame because no-one would have learnt a great deal.”
It will be interesting to see how Carlton House can carry the winning momentum into the next races of the coming months.
