Champions League: Braga vs Shakhtar Donetsk 0 – 3; Full time Report (Part 3)
Play sharpened even further near to the end as Matheus assisted a counter attack to Braga’s Leandro Salino and he came very close to scoring the opener but just missed to the left.
With that the score line ended at 0-0 at half time.
If the beginning of the first half suggested that dull play would be seen then one could sense that anything but that would be seen in the second half.
The second half began with a 46th minute hand ball by Vandinho.
At the 50th minute mark Shakhtar decided to bring on their offensive guns and from here onwards they presented the club with numerous opportunities to score.
It was Olexiy g*y, Darijo Srna in a right footed shot from the right side of the box but it was blocked. Just seconds later Tomás Hübschman was given a yellow card because of an unprofessional tackle.
Braga made another substitution in the 55th minute when they brought on Lima to replace Leandro Salino to increase the offensive strength of the team.
Just a minute after that, in the 56th, Douglas Costa assisted Luiz Adriano in a right foot shot which was forced into the centre of the box but aimed at the bottom right corner. Adriano ended with a good finish. Till
the next 5 minutes it was Adriano all over the field.
In the 61st minute Henrikh Mkhitaryan of Shakhtar committed a foul and for that he was slapped with a yellow card.
A minute later and Braga were on rampage. Paulão first got his shot blocked from the middle of the box. Next came Luis Aguiar who got his shocked block. Finally Matheus got the ball and he blasted the ball into the top right corner
from the centre of the box.
Seconds later it was Vandinho who found the ball at his feet and launched another high ball into the air. Two minutes later Paulo César of Braga was on the attack and he made an attempt on the top right corner but failed to finish
the ball into place. The attempt was eventually saved.
In the 67th minute Shakhtar made a substitution as Jadson replaced Olexiy g*y. Braga’s Luis Aguiar tried to take advantage of the newly adjusting field for Shakhtar and took a shot at goal but it was blocked. Two minutes
later it was Matheus who took a hit at goal from the box at the bottom right corner but the attempt was saved.
In the 69th minute Shakhtar’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan missed a chance to score as his right footer was just a bit high to reach the back of the net but in the 72nd minute Shakhtar started leading by 2 goals.
Douglas Costa assisted Luiz Adriano in a right footed strike to the bottom right corner and the ball ended with a superb finish.
Braga responded immediately by making a substitution in the 74thminute. Mossoró was brought in for Vandinho. In the 75th minute Shakhtar made their replacement as they brought off Luiz Adriano by bringing
on Eduardo.
