Champions League: Manchester United v Rangers half time report
Man Utd 0 Rangers 0
A lacklustre, much-changed Manchester United were quite easily held at bay by a determined Rangers in the first half of their Champions League tie at Old Trafford.
Despite United boss Sir Alex Ferguson making 10 changes from the weekend draw at Everton, the Scottish champions have clearly come to defend, but they weren’t seriously tested in the opening half hour bar a Javier Hernandez header that looped wide.
Darron Gibson has seen one long range effort edge narrowly wide and another comfortably saved by Rangers ‘keeper Alan McGregor, but in truth that has been the most threatening that the home side have looked in what has been a disappointing match.
To add to Ferguson’s concerns, Wayne Rooney was limping towards the end of the half after going over on his left ankle.
