Champions League News: Cesc Fabregas delighted by Arsenal win against Braga
Cesc Fabregas played a true captain’s role in Arsenal's six goals to nil thrashing of Braga, in the Gunners opening night of fixtures in the Champions League. The team is now top of Group H on goal difference and has made the rest of Europe take note of
their performance.
Fabregas managed to get on the score sheet twice, while Carlos Vela also grabbed a brace. Andrei Arshavin and Marouane Chamakh both got a goal apiece too to sum up the night in grand fashion.
Following the match the captain was interviewed and was reported to have said: "It was good training because in the Premier League and the Champions League we will have games where we will not have it easy."
He was then asked if he was happy that he opted to stay at the Emirates instead of moving to Barcelona, to which he responded by saying: "I've always felt fantastic here. I'm very happy to be here."
He however went on to admit that he was disappointed at not completing his hat trick, since it is one of the things on his to do list for the team.
"I am a bit disappointed because I wanted to do it, it's the thing I haven't done as a professional."
The arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger was delighted about the game and was full of praise for Jack Wilshere at the end of the night. He was caught saying: "It's difficult to compare the two players but both have an exceptional talent,"
He added, "What is fantastic for a player like Wilshere is to see a player like Fabregas and to play with him."
Wenger however admitted that all the pressure would be on Arsenal to continue this fine form for the rest of the season and said: "I believe what is important is to keep a high quality but we can do even better."
When asked about Fabregas he responded and said: "I believe it was not easy for him because he was under a lot of pressure.
"I never had a doubt that he loves the club. He wants to do well, he is a leader."
This win also went on to prove just how good Arsenal really are this season. The team was missing six first team players going into the night and a lot of people had their doubts about the team’s credibility and ability to perform.
Nonetheless the majority expected the team to win but no one expected them to do so in such dramatic fashion. If Arsenal continue to keep this form up for the rest of the season, then they definitely will be the team to beat. They might also finally end
their five year barren run without any silverware and this would only add to the team’s legendary status.
