Champions League preview: AC Milan vs Tottenham Hotspur
AC Milan host Tottenham Hotspur for the first leg of the last 16 round at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Tuesday night. The Italian Serie A leaders who finished second in the group stages behind Real Madrid will be wary of the improved Tottenham side that
surprised everyone and beat Inter Milan to top their group. The last time the two sides met was in the UEFA cup tie in 1971-72. Tottenham managed to get the better of AC Milan and lifted the trophy.
AC Milan is the second most successful club in the Champion’s League history after Real Madrid. The Italian giants have won the competition seven times. However, the last three seasons haven’t been so fruitful for the Milan side. They have exited the competition
in the last 16 round for the previous three seasons. The Rossoneri come into this game with a thumping 4-0 win over Parma over the weekend. The home side will be without new signings, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Urby-Emanuelson-c35731 as they are all ineligible
having played in the competition with their former sides. Midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Prince-Boateng-c20792, will miss the
match along with veteran striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Filippo-Inzaghi-c13777.
The in-form striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029, will be the Player to watch from the AC Milan team. The Swede has scored 18 goals so far this season and is a pivotal figure to guide Milan to the quarter finals of the Champion’s League. Ibrahimovic hasn’t quiet
enjoyed his previous outings against the English clubs but he can be devastating for any opposition on a good day.
Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a fruitful group stage as they topped the group beating Inter Milan, Werder Bremen and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567
Milan on the same pitch and should be familiar with the conditions. The Spurs made a remarkable comeback after going four goals down in the first half and went onto score three goals in the second half thanks to Gareth Bale’s brilliant hat-trick. Spurs lost
4-3 to Inter at San Siro but went onto win 3-1 at White Hart Lane in the second leg against the Nerazzurri.
Tottenham come into this game with a 2-1 win over Sunderland. The visitors face a host of injury concerns ahead of this match. Their main man, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, is doubtful
as he had an appendix removed two weeks ago. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermaine-Jenas-c18362 is suspended for the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Heurelho-Gomes-c16173 will be the player to watch in the Tottenham team. The Brazilian didn’t have the best of times in his last trip to San Siro, after he conceded four goals in the first half of the game. The Brazilian will have to be at his very best to keep
out the likes of Alexander Pato, Robinho and Ibrahimovic.
It is likely to be any ones game but with Tottenham missing their star players, Modric and Bale, Milan are expected to win by at least two goals.
