Former Arsenal striker Eduardo has bitten the hand that used to feed him in Donetsk, and ensured that the Gunners are behind at the break.
The Brazilian-born Croatian international coolly slotted home right on half time after Darijo Srna had taken advantage of poor defending from Gunners left back Gael Clichy.
Earlier, Theo Walcott had raced onto a Jack Wilshere ball to expertly put the Gunners in front just 10 minutes in, but Shakhtar showed good attacking quality in attempting to hit back, and levelled the scores when Jadson’s free kick was headed into his own net by Gunners youngster Craig Eastmond, under pressure from Dmytro Chygrynskiy.
Jadson hit the post with a header for Shakhar, with the Ukrainian side well on top for much of the half.
