Champions League T20 starts from the 10th of September
The advent of T20 cricket at the international arena has made the global game of cricket more entering than ever. Who would have thought that this format of the game, with reduced time for advertisements, would bring more money to the game? But the glamour, excitement and swashbuckling hitting has turned T20 cricket into a roaring success.
The format has gained so much popularity that following the first edition of the Indian Premium League in 2007, a worldwide event under the Champions League T20 banner was to be launched in India in 2008. CEO of the tournament, Sundar Raman said, “for us it is very important that people know the teams," adding, "South Africa is going to be different because they are used to a club culture. Now we are starting with an advantage because they know the two South African teams and they know the three IPL teams, so recognition is not 3 on 12 [last year] but it's 5 on 10. So that's a big advantage for us."
Enrique Iglesias will sing the theme song, to give the event a global feel to it. Moreover, expectations are that different markets will be interested to buy this format of T20 cricket.
Raman says, “Someone like Enrique cuts across genres and brings in a new set of audiences. Our belief has always been that T20 is a great platform to get new audiences into the game. The event is being broadcasted aggressively at the worldwide level. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan alongside players Sourav Ganguly and Andrew Symonds have been busy promoting the event. Raman believes the end result of the event would surely be to increase the appeal to the viewers in India and the spectators in South Africa.
Raman believes, “I am more confident than I was last year because I have seen what the product was last year. I believe that not only will it be a huge success in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 but it will be far more well received in India. You have to acknowledge India is the market where there are sizeable TV audiences and South Africa is where the stadium audiences are.”
With all efforts being made, one can expect that an eventful tournament is in the making, bringing entertainment to millions of cricket lovers around the world.
