Champions League: Tottenham v Inter Milan half time report
Tottenham 1 Inter Milan 0
Rafael van der Vaart’s sixth goal in five White Hart Lane appearances ensures that Spurs lead the European Champions at the break.
Inter Milan failed to close down Luka Modrić on the edge of the box, and the Croatian’s reverse ball fed van der Vaart, who smashed an effort beyond Luca Castellazzi and into the net.
Aside from the goal, all of Spurs’ good work has come from their electric Welsh winger Gareth Bale, whose terrific cross was volleyed wide Peter Crouch when the forward could have done better.
Rafael Benitez’s side have threatened sporadically, although Samuel Eto’o did drive into the side netting, while Wesley Sneijder saw a free kick turned over by Carlo Cudicini.
