Champions League Twenty20 Qualifiers – Comprehensive Analysis – Part 3
The second day of the Champions League Twenty20 qualifiers started off with a one sided match between Leicestershire and Trinidad & Tobago at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 on Tuesday, September 20, 2011.
The Caribbean side was familiar with the conditions in Hyderabad, as they had played one game at the same venue against Ruhuna.
This gave the edge to T&T and they crushed the opposition by 51 runs, qualifying for the main round of the tournament.

Barath was the first batsman to be dismissed in the innings after a century stand with his opening partner. The pair put together 139 runs at the top of the order, taking the game away from the opposition.
The first wicket fell on the first ball of the 18th over, as Barath got caught in the deep after adding 62 runs to the total. He faced just 47 balls for his brisk knock, smashing six fours and a couple of sixes.
Just one ball later, Simmons was also dismissed after top scoring the innings with 67 runs off 58 deliveries. He hammered seven boundaries in his marvellous knock at the top of the order.
With two new batsmen at the crease, T&T were in a spot of bother. However, the team could not have got a better total, which they achieved in the end.
Promising left-handed batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/D-Ramdin-c1299 collected 29 runs in quick time towards the end of the innings, keeping the momentum with T&T.
Bravo remained unbeaten on 18 runs off just nine balls and clobbered two massive sixes. He got excellent support from Ramdin, who ended up with 11 runs from seven deliveries with the help of one boundary.
The only two wickets to fall in the innings were taken by Leicestershire’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harry-Frederick-Gurney-c61806. He was certainly the pick of the bowlers for his side, but lacked support from the other end.
The English club needed a flying start in order to challenge the opposition. However, the innings never got going, resulting in a humiliating loss for the team.
Opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-McDonald-c1042 was unable to make an impression and got out without troubling the scorers. He was followed by a few more quick wickets and the team was in deep trouble at 20/5.
A 47-run stand between Pakistan’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Leicestershire-c807 side, but it was certainly not enough for the team to win the match.
The Pakistani all-rounder got out after adding 21 runs to the total and there was no other significant performance from the lower-order batsmen.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 batted well and ended up with an unbeaten 56 runs off 47 balls. His effort only helped the team reach 117 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
T&T’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Rampaul-c2233 was impressive with the ball, picking up four wickets in the match.
This effort guided the West Indian club to the main round of the tournament, as they won both their qualifying matches.
