Champions League: Valencia v Manchester United half time report
Valencia 0 Manchester United 0
Valencia and Manchester United have failed to break the deadlock at the Mestalla in their Champions League Group C encounter.
Roberto Soldado should have put Valencia in the lead as he had the best chance of the first half. The striker missed an open goal when he got underneath a header after United ‘keeper Edwin van der Sar completely misjudged a cross.
Other than the extraordinary miss, chances have been few and far between, with both teams unable to create a decent amount of attacks, cancelling each other out.
In-form striker Dimitar Berbatov almost scored on four minutes for United as his shot from outside the area wasn’t far away from Valencia ‘keeper Cesar’s goal.
Valencia’s first effort came courtesy of Pablo Hernandez on 15 minutes. He fired in a shot which didn’t trouble the United goal.
Both sides are experiencing contrasting league campaigns. Valencia are flying high in La Liga, currently top of the league with four wins out of five and unbeaten. United are currently second in the Premier League, but have been leaking in plenty of goals and are three points off leaders Chelsea.
It wouldn’t be a surprise at all if this game were to finish goalless at full time.
