Champions League – Warriors defeat Bushrangers by 28 runs
The Chevrolet Warriors have defeated the Victorian Bushrangers by 28 runs in their Champions League match in Port Elizabeth, with the Warriors skipper Davey Jacobs leading the way for the winning side.
A 17-run first over got the Warriors off to an ideal start against Victoria at Port Elizabeth as Davey http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jacobs-c65213 took to Dirk Nannes’ bowling with relish, cracking three fours from an opening over that had begun with four leg byes.
That attacking opening quickly turned into Jacobs’ half-century, as the right-handed opener routinely picked the gaps in the field to find the boundary no less than nine times on his way to that milestone. His innings finally came to an end on 59 (from 39 balls), a running mix-up between the Warriors captain and opening partner Ashwell Prince finally proving his undoing.
The skipper though had set up a handy platform for his side to build on, but his departure turned momentum in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Harwood-c2497 contributing one of his own as the Warriors fell to 97-4 after having reached the 81-run mark without loss.
Dropped on 18, Mark Boucher went on to score 31 (from 27) before Nannes rattled his stumps, with the Warriors’ innings finally finishing on 158-6.
Early wickets to the Warriors had Victoria on the back foot early in their chase and in the end the South African team wrapped up a comfortable victory, with pacemen Rusty Theron (3-22) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Makhaya-Ntini-c73953 (2-33) leading the way for the Warriors in the field.
Today’s victory leaves the Warriors undefeated in the two matches they have played in the Champions League so far.
