“Champions League is better than the World Cup”, says; Ferguson
The sixty eight year old Manchester United football club boss Sir Alex Ferguson is of the view that the UEFA Champions League football event is the best football event in the world. Ferguson has also said that the World Cup of football cannot be compared
with the UEFA Champions League as the World Cup of this year was the worst event of football ever held.
In a very recent press conference which was held after the Manchester United team’s victory against Bursaspor, Ferguson was asked about the quality of football in the Premier league as it seems the Premier League is starting to lose its charm.
Ferguson answered by saying that the Champions League is the best football tournament in the world and it comprises the world’s most prestigious football clubs as well as world’s best footballers.
According to some critics the UEFA Champions league tournament is time consuming and it has many pointless matches and that is why the event has started to lose its charm with football loving fans. Ferguson expressed his feelings and told the media that
the quality of the tournament and the huge number of spectators in the matches is solid proof of the tournament’s acceptability and fame in the world. He added by saying that the criticism about the number of matches in the tournament is pointless and to him
there is no match of the UEFA Champions League that is not important.
Ferguson added and said that the tournament is even better than the football World Cup because it is more exciting and people get to see their favourite football stars playing for one team. The Scot accepted the fact that the first group stage of the tournament
is of lesser importance because the quality of the competition is not very high in the first group stage.
The sixty eight year old manager told the media that bigger matches in the tournament gather bigger crowd. He added that when bigger teams of the Premier League like Arsenal and Manchester United are about to play against each other, the participation of
the crowd is huge and that is why the group stages of the tournament are considered less important. Sir Alex added that huge crowds would not come together unless the match is between famous teams of the world and this is the case with the English Premier
League and the UEFA Champions League.
It is also to be noted that this year’s football World Cup was considered as one of the most disappointing and under par football event ever held in the history of football. Moreover the performances of some of the stronger football teams, in the world cup
were very disappointing as well. Ferguson expressed his thoughts and feelings about the recent football World Cup, which was held in South Africa in summer. He said that the football World Cup was the worst tournament of the year.
Ferguson also expressed that the famous and strong Premier League teams such as Man. United and Arsenal are playing brilliantly and teams like these have brought the level of competition and excitement up to incomparable standards.
In a very recent match the Manchester United football team thrashed the Turkish team Bursaspor by 3 goals to 0.
