Matchday 3 of the 2012/2013 Champions League didn’t bring much good news for Montpellier Herault and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lille-OSC-c39800. However, Paris Saint-Germain returned to winning ways enhancing their chances of qualifying for the next round of the competition
It was the same old story for the reigning French champions as La Paillade once again failed to show their true colours on the pitch. Olympiacos FC proved too strong for Rene Girard’s side defeating the Ligue 1 outfit 2-1 in the end. Despite playing at Stade
de la Mosson, MHSC failed to take control of the game and the visitors took full advantage of their opponents’ lack of confidence.
The defeat was Montpellier’s second of the Champions League campaign following the defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. Mathematically, the French club can still qualify for the knockout stages of
the competition but need a miracle at this stage to guide them through.
Arsenal and Schalke are favourites to qualify for the next round and with the kind of form La Paillade are in at the moment, it would be safe to predict that Montpellier’s debut Champions League campaign has entered a blind alley.
Another French team that has been a disappointment in Europe so far, is 2010/2011 champions of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, LOSC Lille. More was expected from a team that has so many quality players at their disposal. However, like the previous season, Les Dogues have been a
disappointment in Europe and things aren’t looking good for Rudi Garcia’s side.
LOSC have lost all three of their European games this season and their Champions League campaign is all but over. Following the defeats against BATE Borisov and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863, it was expected that the Ligue 1 outfit will perform well this time around. However,
Bayern Munich proved too strong for Les Dogues and Lille lost the match 1-0 at Grand Stade Lille Metropole.
With the likes of Bayern Munich and Valencia in the group, Lille weren’t favourites to progress through the next round from the start. And the performance of BATE Borisov has left the group wide open and LOSC face the possibility of ending the group stages
on a disrespectful fourth position.
Unlike Montpellier and Lille, Paris Saint-Germain have been performing really well in the Champions League this season giving some hope to the French supporters.
Apart from the defeat at the hands of Porto in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984, Les Parisiens have been amazing in Europe and the win against Dinamo Zagreb was PSG’s second in three matches. A comfortable victory against Dynamo Kiev alarmed the top-guns in the competition of the
presence of Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
The Porto defeat proved to be a mere bump in Paris Saint-Germain’s road to glory and the Paris club returned to winning ways in stunning fashion against the Croatian outfit in the third game of the competition.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 has been the standout player for the Parisiens and is scoring goals for pleasure for the capital club, both in Ligue 1 and in Champions League. Other players are contributing as well and Paris Saint-Germain look like a side capable of
going very far in the competition.
With Montpellier and Lille all set to bid goodbye to their Champions League campaign, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to take the world by storm and many are predicting the French club to go far the Champions League this season.
